October Ferries to Gabriola
A radio play starring Drew Staniland and Twilight Radio Theatre’s Kathy McIntyre, Chris Jans, Tina Jones and David Botten.Written by Charlotte Cameron.
6:30pm at Surf Lodge, 885 Berry Point Rd.
October 2016 marks the 70th anniversary of iconic Canadian author Malcolm Lowry’s visit to Gabriola, the trip that inspired his posthumous novel, October Ferry to Gabriola. This existential love story, set in the 1940s, captures themes of living, loving, drinking, travel, mysticism, and literature. Cameron’s story imagines the life of Lowry and his wife Margerie Bonner, and their days at the Surf Lodge, and the ways that real life mirrors ̀ction. The Surf Lodge is site #35 on BC BookWorld’s interactive literary map of BC.
